Haven Hatch, our newest employee!

Haven Hatch, our newest employee!

Over the past several years, we have been blessed with many interns, part timers, and volunteers. Three interns have moved up to staff roles, and we are formally announcing our most recent promotion, Haven Hatch, from Endicott Intern to Lead Educator. Board of Directors, Lauren, Patrick, and Kelly welcome Haven to our team!

Haven majored in Environmental Studies at Endicott and worked in outdoor conservation and nature-based education at a mountain conservation area in Maine. Growing up in York, Maine, and an avid athlete and surfer, Haven brings a lifetime of passion for an active life to Change is Simple.

Haven came to us in an interview over a year ago for her full-time Endicott internship and to be honest, we weren't quite sure her soft-spoken personality would be a good fit for our education model. However, her experience and knowledge were perfect, so we gave her a shot, and we are so glad we did. She shines in the classroom!

We knew she “had it” last fall after only a few classroom visits. She rocked her internship, she began working part time in January, and she has recently graduated from Endicott and has become an integral part of our team. Congratulations Haven! We are proud to have you on our team.

Lizzy Beuchel, Northeastern COOP Spring 2015

Lizzy Beuchel, Northeastern COOP Spring 2015

In January, Lizzy Buechel, a Northeastern student, joined us as a COOP and has been an incredible team player. She has brought us so much laughter day in and day out. Ya know how there's that one person in the office that adds comic relief no matter how uncomfortable the situation? Lizzy is that person. She has an "I can do it" attitude all the time, which is exactly what our small team needs.

Lizzy has an interesting past, coming from Seattle and attending the same high school as President Obama in Hawaii. Lizzy took the train from campus to the office everyday, and you can bet she always had a hilarious story from that commute. If we needed a good laugh, we would look to Lizzy. Unfortunately, Lizzy has recently completed her internship with us and her outgoing attitude is already missed. Gazing longingly at the wall today, Kelly said sorrowfully, “We will never erase Lizzy’s handprints from the chalk board.”

Melissa Kintish of Brandeis wasted no time becoming an important part of our team. In her first week she contributed to three grants and is currently helping CiS incorporate our impacts into our messaging and branding.

Corinne Whittemore and Tianna Fallon are two high school students who have also recently finished their internships with us. Corinne is from Masco and will attend UMass Amherst next year to study environmental science.

Tianna Fallon, Beverly High School

Tianna is a Beverly High senior who will pursue the sciences next year. These two worked with students in classrooms and helped us develop a new lesson that will complete our 2nd grade curriculum.

Daniela Heyer has been a part time educator with us for the last few years. She hails from Ecuador and is the single most resourceful person we've ever met.

These are just a few of the other people who have been a huge part of Change is Simple over the years, helping us move forward:
