OUR APPROACH

How exactly do we work to instill understanding and inspire change in our students? A Change is Simple student's experience is so much more than just a series of lessons. These hands-on, SEL-driven sessions work to engage the students so that not only do they have tons of fun, but they leave school that day remembering the importance of these topics.

This is a Kindergarten student engaged in their first ever Change is Simple lesson: What is the Environment?. The lesson starts with a 15 foot blank blue circle — our planet. They learn exactly what makes up our environment, adding dozens of 3D objects like trees, rivers, animals, buildings, cars, boats, and more — developing a sense of place. They are establishing the first elements of understanding the importance of protecting our planet. This is just the beginning of this child’s journey with Change is Simple.

Over the next 6-8 years that journey will be filled with fun and exciting learning experiences. Follow the path below to see what students have the opportunity to learn with Change is Simple:

Students learn how protecting the planet is also good for their personal health. They learn about the benefits of choosing healthy & local foods, proper hydration, avoiding chemical cleaners, and of course a lot of playing outside. Each unit has students making changes and taking steps toward a healthier body.

One of the most important outcomes of the program is that students understand their place in the world. They develop a sense of community and begin to think beyond themselves, learning that their decisions affect people on a local and global level. Our program allows kids to see these impacts and put themselves in the shoes of others.
