Happy Earth Month 2025
It's our favorite time of the year! This month, Change is Simple compiled an extensive list of resources that makes starting your sustainability journey easier than ever! Find all the resources, links, and info we've gathered below.
What is Earth Month?
Earth Month is celebrated annually in April and is all about promoting awareness on environmental issues and encouraging people to take action to protect our environment and live more sustainably.
Celebrate our favorite month with us by getting involved in the many community events dedicated to raising awareness on protecting our planet!
Involvement and Events
Fortunately, there are tons of resources out there as people around the world are putting in the work in all different sectors of climate action and environmental sustainability! However, it can be easy to get overwhelmed and difficult to pinpoint exactly where to start. Oftentimes, the best place to start and have the most impact, is by keeping it local!
Learn about some local organizations that have a range of events and opportunities to get involved, directly within your own communities.

Local Food Systems
There are plenty of ways to practice sustainability through food, while also promoting food that is fresh and nutritional. Eating locally, whether it be through farmers’ markets or Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs, can help to reduce our carbon footprints as well as support regional farmers. Composting is a great “at-home” option that helps to reduce landfill waster and return nutrients to our soil. Learn more about food access and how we can help lift organizations that focus on food.
Saving Energy for the Planet
According to the EPA, electric power generation is the second largest contributor of CO2 emissions globally. Fortunately, both local and state offices have initiatives and resources available — you just have to know where to look! Start reducing your energy use, helping the planet, and saving money today.
More is Less: Consuming Less and Conserving Water
For our final week, we wanted to share the impact of consumption and production of every day goods. In fact, our lesson, 'Natural Resources and the Life Cycle of "Stuff"', covers this very topic. It's easy to forget where the things we buy, such as clothing, come from and what goes into making them. But many of them, most notably clothing and textiles, go through extremely energy and resource-intensive processes before landing in our closets. The @worldresources Institute estimates that about 20% of industrial water pollution comes from garment manufacturing and 1.3 trillion gallons of water each year globally for dyeing alone. Help fight the impact of textiles production by simply consuming less!

Meatless Mondays
Whether it's Meatless Mondays or a fully plant-based diet, every bite you take without meat is a win for the environment. Animal agriculture is a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, so reducing meat consumption is a great place to start.
Let’s Get Moving
Embrace sustainable transportation — take a stroll, ride your bike, share a ride with friends, or hop aboard public transit. With these options, you're not just getting around, you're reducing emissions and making every trip an adventure!
Local Love, Global Impact
Supporting local businesses also creates a smaller carbon footprint. From handmade goodies to locally sourced treasures, these kinds of purchases support the community while helping the planet thrive!
