The Weather and Our Emotions

Overview

In this activity, students will reflect on how different weather conditions make them feel. Then, students will identify different activities they can do that aligns with their weather condition related emotion! This activity gives students the opportunity to reflect on what affects their mood and develop their emotional literacy.

  • “The Weather and Our Emotions” Worksheet

  • Writing materials

 

Activity Duration:

  • 20-30 minutes

Instructions

  1. Have a brief discussion with students about how our emotions can change when the weather changes and how choosing activities to do based on our mood can help us be more in tune with our emotions. It is helpful to share an example such as: when it’s sunny outside I feel energetic! When I feel energetic, I like to go outside and play catch with my dog.

  2. Pass out worksheets to students and explain that they will be writing down the emotions they feel for each weather condition. They then will identify an activity they can do based on the weather and their emotions.

  3. Give students time to work on their worksheets.

  4. Once students have completed their activity, give them 5 minutes to pick a partner and compare and contrast how different weather conditions make them feel!
